My name is Kim Takala, and I’ve been doing visual design for over 25 years. The expertise built up over decades shows in how quickly I can identify what works, what to avoid, and how to put new tools and technologies to sensible use.
Good design is still about understanding people. Who is looking at this? What are they searching for? What makes them stop, and what makes them act? These questions were central 25 years ago, and they’re central now. Decades of experience mean answers come faster and more reliably.
A large part of my career was spent at international advertising agencies working with some of the world’s most recognisable brands. That’s where you learn how to manage large, complex projects, how to bring clients into the process, and how to maintain high standards under deadline pressure. Projects were often complicated and teams were large – which meant every part had to work precisely. The habit of seeing things through properly has stayed with me ever since.
I have also been part of design teams whose work has been recognised internationally at Cannes Lions and in the Finnish Vuoden Huiput awards. That doesn’t mean every project aims for a trophy – it means I know what quality work looks like and how to get there.
Moving to my own company meant all of that experience became available directly to clients, without any intermediaries. At Luova Digital, I handle both design and technical execution myself. It’s an unusual combination – most designers don’t code, and most developers don’t design. When both skills are in the same hands, the idea stays intact all the way from concept to finished site. Nothing gets lost in translation between designer and developer.
I’ve built websites for local businesses, growth-focused startups and international brands. The scale of the project varies, but the way of working stays the same. That’s something learned, not something accidental.
Experience matters!
