From idea to live site

Every website project is different. But the process always follows the same logic: understand the need first, then build the solution. That order isn’t accidental.

A typical project moves in stages. The initial brief covers what the site needs to do, who it’s aimed at, and what competitive environment the business operates in. Only after that do we think about structure, visual identity and technical solutions. Rushing this phase is the single most common reason projects run into trouble later on.

I mainly use WordPress. It’s a technically flexible platform, well documented and an excellent choice from an SEO perspective. Most importantly, it means clients can update their own content without any technical know-how. The site doesn’t become dependent on its maker.

Visual design begins once the structure is agreed. I start with wireframes, move to graphic mockups, and only begin coding after sign-off. That sequence saves everyone time and reduces unnecessary revision rounds. A change at the wireframe stage takes minutes; a change in finished code can take hours.

Throughout the build, I keep clients in the loop. I don’t disappear for a month and return with a finished site – that doesn’t serve anyone. Regular communication ensures the end result matches expectations and holds no surprises at launch.

Before going live, I run through a technical checklist: load speed, mobile performance, form functionality, metadata, Analytics setup and backup routines. Only when everything checks out does the site open to the public.

If you want the whole package under one roof, I handle hosting and maintenance too. No need to manage multiple suppliers or worry about updates and security. When something needs changing or fixing, one message is enough.
